Dubai - Airports of Frankfurt
Gebäude | Informationen | Videos | Emirates | Aussicht
Frankfurt has two airports. Make sure you know which one you're flying to, because it really makes a difference. A bigger difference than you might suppose.
A friend of mine once planned a journey by train to Oldenburg. But instead of Oldenburg in lower saxony she found herself in Oldenburg in Holstein. Stuff like that happens.

which franfurt invented frankfurter sasuage?

There are at least three Frankfurt in Germany: Frankfurt am Main, Frankfurt an der Oder and a small village Frankfurt somewhere in Bavaria (Neustadt an der Aisch, Markt Taschendorf).

or as Frankie Boyle would say: "Ryan Air is now flying from London to slightly outside New York.. To Dublin"

Frankfurt Hahn, formally known as Heathrow South.
It is about as close to Frankfurt as to Wrangler Island, if I recall correctly.
I suppose most people walk into that trap once. -
If it was just Frankfurt and Munich... I think thats a global "phneomenon". Brussels has it too (with Charleroi), not to mention London... And if you want to go to Vienna, they'll suggest flights to you that actually go to Bratislava (which is even a differnt country!).
Also in many cases, such as London-Gatwick, I find that the money you save on the flight is usually negated or diminished by the cost for the bus etc. you have to take to get into the city. -
There was actually a lawsuit over the whole "Frankfurt" Hahn confusion. From what I heard, they had to drop the lawsuit after there was such a large scale media coverage of it that it was then said that everybody is aware of the issue and so there is no case anymore.

Klingt, als wären Du oder ein Bekannter letztens ungeplanterweise nach Hahn oder Memmingen geflogen...? ;)
-
And not to forget, Frankfurt am Main has also the highest crime rate in all of Germany. Not only because it is the drug capital of Germany, but it has also the highest murder rate.
Enjoy your visit. -
What do you think of constructed languages like Esperanto or Ido?

Munich Airport (MUC, or FJS after the famous Bavarian politician Franz-Josef Strauß) is not exactly in the city either, it's out in the woods in a landscape called the Erdinger Moos. You have to use an S-Bahn to get to Munich.
Of all three airports I had to use in Germany, MUC, FRA and TXL (Berlin-Tegel), I preferred Tegel. I hope they won't ever finish the BER, so people can still fly in and out of TXL, which is located quite near the city center. -
For someone travelling within Europe, those faroff airports make no sense at all. You'd probably be faster if you took the railway or road.
-
Why don't they just call it Mosel Airport or Rheinland-Pfalz Airport.

1:45 "As an airport, it's probably quite nice."
-
I don't mind the Frankfurt Airport as much - once you got an idea how it works and where to go it works quite nice - almost like the public transportation in Munich...
I think the main error is that they don't have many people around to help orientation... -
the Fraport even got its own sing

Awesome thumbs up for the airline-style announcement
