Told (and sung) entirely in the voices of the laborers, the film is the first project ever permitted to be shot in these isolated, industrial-sized living facilities for the millions of sub-continental men who come to build the dream cities of the Arab world while supporting their societies and economies back home. With devastating candor and charming humor, these men from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh speak of their struggles and triumphs. With unique access into all facets of their day-to-day life, we explore the passion for music in a life of manual labor and the special power of Bollywood song to make a hero of each man. The film premiered at the 10th Dubai International Film Festival on Dec 7th, 2013 in an historic outdoor screening at Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest tower. It attracted +1200 viewers making it one of the largest documentary premieres in recent history. More Emirati BS, what's next, best blood diamond miner in Africa competition? These Wahhabi scum have soo much money that they can at least vastly improve the living standards of these workers into 2 bedroom small apartments, but instead they are propagating this singing BS thinking that these guys will forget their hardships that easily? Honestly, I hope the Iranian IRGC gives the UAE some US styled "Freedom" and liberate that nation from such hypocritical bs..... The only reason this supposed "documentary" was made is due to the fact that it puts the UAE into the limelight as being a kind nation. If they purely made it on the struggles of the workers, the director would prolly be beheaded by now....

Been there, lived there, worked there. I must say that it gave me a boost in my career, but the harsh realities are there. The injustices and layer over layer hierarchy is brutal.

Hats off...it's time we show respect for these hard working men who have sacrificed their life to make a living. It's unfortunate that the Asian countries does not provide any support for their citizens.... again great job by Mahmoud..

I get emotional every time I see this trailer. What a wonderful tribute to these hard working men.

cannot wait to see it xxx

The whole underlying idea of the theatrical activity of the Concentration Camps was obviously temporary release from the terrible reality of that life. Sad to see that this is now reflected in the modern day reality of a 'Labour Camp'

Hi Rachel, the film will be launched on the international film festival circuit in Fall 2013. Hopefully, it will make it to Dubai by end of year. Pls follow Champ of the Camp on FB for updates.

Hi please can you tell me where I can see this film, or can I buy it somewhere here in Dubai? Thank you!
-
Kudos... much needed a film indeed...
-
Most of the characters we chose picked songs that tell their stories. The documentary inadvertently became a musical in some of its parts.
-
The opening song in the trailer that isn't subtitled juxtapozed against the skyscrapers is really powerful.
-
AMAZING!!!!
