Dr. Hessa bint Abdullah Lootah, also called "Dubai's First Lady in Mass Communications", is an expert in communication research, communication theories, photojournalism, media and development, as well as contemporary issues in communication. During her prolific career, she has served as head of department of Mass Communications at the UAE University. She has also held positions in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, in addition to sitting on the board of the UAE National Media Council and Arab Journalism Awards. Dr. Lootah has produced several television programmes including TV Magazine, Gulls on the Shores of the Gulf, and Cinema Show. She has also published media specific studies and research in both Arabic and English. Dr Lootah is the recipient of several awards including the Taryam Omran Award for Best Article, and the Rashid bin Humaid Award for community service. She holds a doctorate from the University of Ohio in the US, a Master's in Arts from the School of International Studies in Ohio, and a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts.
