Dubai International Airport (IATA: DXB, ICAO: OMDB) (Arabic: مطار دبي الدولي‎) is an international airport located in Dubai, UAE, and is the world's busiest airport in terms of international passenger traffic.[3] It is a major airline hub in the Middle East, and is the main airport of Dubai.[4] It is situated in the Al Garhoud district, 2.5 nautical miles (4.6 km; 2.9 mi) east[1] of Dubai.[5] The airport is operated by the Dubai Airports Company and is the home base of Dubai's international airlines, Emirates, FlyDubai and Emirates SkyCargo; the Emirates hub is the largest airline hub in the Middle East; Emirates now handles 64 per cent of all passenger traffic, and accounts for about 50 per cent of all aircraft movements at the airport.[6] Dubai Airport is also the base for low-cost carrier, flydubai which handles 10.7 per cent of passenger traffic at DXB.[7] The airport became a secondary hub for Qantas in April 2013.[8] The airport consists of three terminals and has a total capacity of 75 million passengers annually.
