2. Thanks very much. Seems to work on mine. Go to Menu > "Make available offline"
3. Does anybody know of a notification option? Or maybe even a modal popup window app that will show turn by turn even when you are exited out of the application (like NextSong)? For example, on ios maps, there is a little notification that comes down from the top saying "turn left at Smith Rd." which is helpful if you want to be using another app while navigating...

5. Hi, I have a question; can you navigate inside the saved area in mode? For example; can you navigate form an address to another inside (Köln) that you have saved its map on your phone? Or is it a feature which only allows you to save map (like old paper map version) without navigation possibility?
6. unfortunately it doesn't work like that anymore in version 7+. Also, if you rebooted the phone before running the maps app with the data off, you would get nothing on the screen but a blue dot. You now need to be on line to use off-line maps. Crazy eh?
7. I see that there are more people in the comments using Gmaps Noroam PRO. Google it and thank me later: no more data costs!

11. How do you use yours offline? I want to download and install maps for entire areas onto the SD card in my phone. Is this possible? 
12. I personally use Gmaps Noroam PRO and it allows me to use navigation offline. Check it out guys :)

16. google maps no puede navegar offline, se necesita internet obligado para trazar la ruta. el mejor es el nokia maps no sé como se llame ahora con windows phone pero mi nokia 5800 te navega offline con voz de direccion, no como el telefono android de gama media alta que tengo uso google maps almacenado en cache para una navegacion offline de 200 metros y no lleva al lugar se la pasa dando vuelta por minuuuuutos. voy por mi nokia nuevamente y me elimino esto gps android que no sirve para nada

19. and how about the tests? now i'm downloading the area which I picked on the google map but i have a question - now i will be able to turn off any source of the internet in my phone and turn on GPS and it will show my position on the area which I'm downloading now? or e.g. show my trip from A to B position on this downloaded area?
