TEGUCIGALPA — Five Syrians were arrested at Toncontin Airport in Honduras' capital late Tuesday night for attempting to enter the country using false documents. Agence France-Presse reports that the men, who were carrying stolen Greek passports that were doctored to replace the photos with their own, traveled by air from Syria to Lebanon, then to Turkey, Brazil, Argentina, and Costa Rica before eventually landing in Tegucigalpa, the Honduran capital. Officials believe they planned to cross to Guatemala and Mexico by land before making their way to the United States, a 2,000 kilometer journey, reports the BBC According to the New York Daily News, Honduran authorities are working with Interpol to investigate, but say there are no signs of the men being linked to the Paris attacks, suggesting they may have just been looking to emigrate to the U.S. With 12,600 foreigners attempting to illegally enter Honduras in 2015, the country has tightened security at its ports, especially in the wake of the Paris terror attacks. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets.
