Dubai - Large Yacht Fire @ Dubai Marina

A yacht caught fire in Dubai Marina on the 18th of March 2010. Marina employees managed to remove the burning vessel from it's berth and tow it to a place accessible by the fire fighters. The remains of the yacht later sunk. No injuries were reported.

That's the reason why in many countries, the harbour master boards your yacht, pilots it to the docking area and conduct a check on all electrical systems before you sign the insurance form. When my Azimut was in Nexus Karambunai Yacht Club, I saw a Ferretti nearby with 3 electric barbeque grills being used. Someone reported to the authorities, and the yacht owner was warned. Always sign the insurance form when you step off your yacht. ALWAYS.
