Even some of the smallest towers have earthing rods that carry the current from a lightning strike into the ground. This simple technology has been used since science discovered the properties of electricity. So of course they thought about this.
-
great video of the Burj Khalifa being hit by lightning
-
wow,awesome video
-
lightning doesnt strike the same place twice...
-
whats the big deal ? they would not have built it if they did not think that it would hold all freak cases!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
lightning strikes tall buildings all the time. They're designed so it won't affect them and it helps to protect other buildings. Anyways it's still kinda cool.
-
it's frightening me! always hope the best 4 you all!
-
it must be really far away from you, as the thunder takes soo long to get to you!
-

-
is this a tower or a large Tulsa gimmick! Anyway sorry Dubai's landscape freaks me out now. But nevertheless cool capture!
-
Didn't humanity learn anything from the last time we built such a tower? The Tower of Babel ring a bell?? What about the Twin Towers??? This is NOT well pleasing to the Lord of Heaven. That tower won't last too long!! Guarentee!
-
You could power Dubai with that thing!
-
such an awsome building. i hope to visit it one day
-
Of course its a consideration when building. Every Tall tower has a lightning system.
-
I think it's more than that but i don't know how much
-
Its not enough Power.. Even though Its 1Giga Watt of power. It only happens for a 1/8th of a second.
-
I was thinking the same :D maybe the first guy who finds out how to get the electricity from lighting have that idea from burj dubai.
