The cheerful Bhatt family was killed in the Thane building crash on Tuesday, just hours before their newly married daughter Rashmi Mange (25) was to leave for her Ahmedabad home. Five members of the family, including Rashmi, sister Rachita (22), mother Mira (58), father Ramchandra (65) and paternal uncle Subraya (54), were found buried under the debris. Mira's best friend Hemangi Gaikwad said, "We are still in shock. I was speaking with Mira till 10pm, jokingly complaining that she didn't wish me on friendship day. She told me that she was busy preparing to pamper Rashmi, who was to stay the night and leave for Ahmedabad on Tuesday morning, where her husband works. Rashmi was to leave for Dubai in a week and Mira wanted to make the most of the little time she had with her." "Mira was one of the liveliest and most social women I have ever met," said Gaikwad. "At our GSB community events, she would be the first volunteer at every program—be it dance or singing or drama. She would drag her entire family to join in." A local resident said, "Their elder daughter got married exactly two months ago and had come to visit her parents only on Monday evening. It is a cruel play of destiny."
