NIGHT DUBAI view from a plane It is amaZing view! As always landing anywhere in the world, in Dubai it depends upon the direction of the wind to determine whether you approach from the sea or from the desert but there's a fairly clear pattern to it here. From my office window I look forwards Deira and can see the planes coming in or taking off and it's pretty predictable to the point that I can almost tell the time without looking at my watch. Coming in at night landing between 22.00/01.00 aircraft generally land from the sea. Coming from Europe you'd start a long slow descent over Qatar and just cruise in. You need to sit on the right of the aircraft (depends upon the seat configuration/aircraft type but higher lettered seat such as J or K) to see the Jumeirah coast but the Burj would merely be a blur of lights for it's about 20+ km away. The lights of the Sheikh Zayed tower blocks, the Burj Dubai and the Business Bay buildings would be clearly visible though. You'll be able to wave to anyone you know staying at the Hyatt Regency as you fly straight passed the window.
