Oslo Airport - for tourists arriving at Oslo Airport Garderrmoen (OSL). Check also www.osl.no. Scope This video gives you and overview of the airport and information on how to get to and from city center of Oslo. Please read additional information. General Oslo Airport opened in 1998, replacing Fornebu airport (FBU) as the main airport in Norway. It has and increasing number of direct fligths - around 100 - including cities like New York, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Minsk and Dubai. When to go to Norway Norway has four season: Winter, spring, summer and fall - with the temperatur ranging from minus 25 Celcius during winter to pluss 25 Celcius during summer. The best part of the year is from mid may unntil end of october. During summertime you should bring light clothes and your swimming gear. During winter time you should bring warm clothes and shoes. Waring Taking taxi from the airport is expensive (about 100-150$) and wil not save you any time if going til city center. A taxi ride will take about 40 minutes, compared to about 20 for the less expensive train ride. Travel information for tourist OSL is located some 50 km north of Oslo, with airport express train as the main line between city center and the airport (only 20 minutes ride). The train stop in Oslo is either OSLO S (main station in Oslo) og NATIONALTEATERET (near the Parliament and the royal castle). You must chose destination to get the ticket price correct. There are only four tracks at OSLO GARDERMOEN train station. Track 1 for regional and local train going north (away from Oslo) and track 4 for regional and local trains going south (to Oslo). Track 2 and 3 are reserved for the airport express train. The latter has it's own ticket system - normally using credit card when entering in to airport expresstrain area. You may also use the vending machine just outside. The price of the airport express train is about 70% more expencive than the regional train (approx. 30$, one way). But it is free to bring your children along and it runs every 10 minutes. You may take the regional train to Oslo leaving from track 4. Please remember to take the regional train, otherwise your travel time will increase to about 40 minutes. Your destination is the same as the express train: OSLO S or NATIONALTEATERET. Additional information for business travelers The airport express train leaves for Oslo city center every 10 minutes as stated abowe - but three out of this every hour has additional stop at LILLESTROM, LYSAKER AND ASKER. Both Lillestrom and Lysaker train station may be of interest for business travelers, as there are many businesses located in this area - espesially at Lysaker. It is a far better option to wait for the next expresstrain at Gardermoen, then to take taxi from Oslo S if going to these areas. Oslo is also served by the low-cost Torp Airport and Rygge Airport. Gardermoen acts as the main domestic hub and international airport for Norway, and is the second-busiest airport in the Nordic countries. Being a hub for Scandinavian Airlines and Norwegian Air Shuttle, and a focus city for Widerøe, it connects to 28 domestic and more than 100 international destinations. More than 21 million passengers traveled through the airport in 2011, making Gardermoen the nineteenth-busiest airport in Europe.
