Developers recently announced plans to build a skyscraper in Dubai that will stretch higher than the Burj Khalifa by ‘a notch.’ The Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in both Dubai and the world, may not be holding its titles for much longer.  Developers, Emaar Properties, recently announced plans to build a skyscraper in the city that will stretch higher than the current record-holder by ‘a notch.’  The new tower, designed by architect Santiago Calatrava Valls, is envisioned as a tall, slim structure that will mimic the appearance of a minaret.  It will be tethered to the ground by a network of leaf-like cables. Features include observation decks, restaurants, a boutique hotel, and private residences. The goal is to have the building completed by 2020.
