Having public sex on the beach in front of dozens of witnesses isn’t the harmless romp it used to be. Remember that Florida couple who got arrested for sanding the old diving board in public last July? Well, they’ve been found guilty and their reproductive organs are getting locked up where no 3 year olds can see them. 20-year-old Elissa Alvarez and 40-year-old Jose Caballero were both found guilty after a jury didn’t buy their story that Alvarez was just dancing naked on Caballero. The prosecution’s case hinged on a video recording made by a local grandmother who caught the couple. They even slathered on an extra charge of “registred sex offender” for making sand angels within view of a 3 year old. Incredibly, the couple rejected a plea deal for some reason, so the only sand in their cracks will be prison grits. Of the two, Alvaro will get the lesser sentence because she had no priors and we think the judge hopes she’ll do it again. But Caballero looks likely to get the maximum 15 years in state prison, mostly for his prior conviction where he served 8 years for cocaine trafficking. And also to keep a serious offense to public decency off the streets of South Florida.
