Dubai - Single handed yacht sailing and racing in 25 knots of wind

As many of you may know Ian likes sailing on his own, so when he found out that our yacht club was running a couple of races this year just for single, and double handed competitors he was looking forward to competing Unfortunately Sea Horse was still in transit back from the Solent when the first race was held earlier in the year but he was all fired up and ready for the second one. Unfortunately the weather had other ideas and the competitors were greeted by a blustery 20+ knots ripping down the river, with some prolonged gusts of even more. Still this didn't stop 10 yachts from entering with Ian the only one in the end taking part single handed. This is the story of the race

what and enjoyable couple you guys are thanks

It is great to see some two handed and solo racing on the East Coast. It's been tried before but never really got off the ground. I hope your club continues to support such things.

Really enjoyed that, great family fun!

At 13:27 you can see Ian braced up against some kind of footrest attachment. Has anyone idea what those are called and where you can buy them?
-
Fun!

I hope your club allows extra handicap points for singlehanders in these races, there is a huge difference between sailing alone and having crew onboard :-)

Exciting!
-
good film just sailing

Great job, Ian!

In my opinion if people/boats tack in front of you it is a mark of respect on how you are doing. So well done Ian. Nice bit of seamanship and good decision to put in a short tack at one stage.

Ian...you're an absolute MAD MAN. Great sailing.
Looks like all Foxwell family members had a great time. -
that guy in that red sailboat looked like he was having lots of fun

Smart sailing.
