Four hijackers have commandeered a Lufthansa jet with ninety one people on board. The aircraft was hijacked over Southern France and ordered to land at Rome Airport. The jet was on a routine flight from Spain to Germany when the hijack occurred. First reports from Rome indicated that there was only one hijacker aboard but it was later established that in fact there were four. After refuelling in Rome the hijackers ordered the pilot of the aircraft to fly to Larnaca in Cyprus. There it was again refuelled after the terrorists threatened to blow up the jet with all passengers on board. After taking on fuel in Larnaca the aircraft took off again for an unknown destination, which turned out to be first Dubai, then Aden and finally Mogadishu in Somalia. The hi-jackers have demanded the release of eleven people imprisoned in West Germany, and two others held in Turkey. They also want a ransom of over 15 million dollars.
