Brian - @weezmgk Tom - @SydneyTom_ Bib Bishop - Actually turned the gears down in his shop. Couldn't have done it without Bob! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ GET SMARTER SECTION: A quick clarification.... It took me 8 months to learn how to do this, but I was only picking up the bike and running to the end of the driveway and back every day. I wasn't "ACTIVELY" trying to learn. Meaning... I wasn't struggling and trying to make my brain learn. I simply got on the bike every day, tried to operate it to the end of the driveway, turned around and tried to operate it back. The goal was to understand how my brain figured things out on its own, without trying to force it to. Many people have built bikes like this and figured it out in much less than 1 day by staying on the bike until they were able to master it. I had no timelines, and was using this as an exploratory activity to learn how I learn. Do not misinterpret this to mean that I struggled and tried very hard every day for 8 months. That's simply not true. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tweet ideas to me https://twitter.com/smartereveryday I'm also on Instagram, Facebook, and Reddit http://instagram.com/smartereveryday https://www.facebook.com/SmarterEveryDay http://www.reddit.com/r/smartereveryday If you like what I do and want to support my efforts to create Smart kids and Smarter Every Day here are a couple of links you can use to help. Has anyone tried focussing on the turning gear that's following the correct movement? That might help.
-
I bet I could ride it
-
One of your best videos. Extraordinary.
-
This was so friggen cool!
-
make it peddle backwards to go forwards as well
-
now im gonna go make one
-
Am I wrong to say this is why you shouldn't teach your kids about religion until they're at least old enough to comprehend it....

There is an experiment done by moody science classic in which the scientist puts on a helmet which has goggles that flips the images upside down. He wore that helmet until his brain literally flipped the image right side up and he could ride a motorcycle just fine. It took a while but the brain flipped the image. Then he took the helmet off and everything was flipped upside down and eventually the brain flipped the image back to normal. Very interesting experiment check it out!

The real question here is Did you actually take your kid to see an astronaut?
-
But you're not taking into account the steering sensitivity also, if it was less sensitive it would be easy to learn. On my motorcycle any speed above 15mph I have to countersteer, meaning left goes right, just like this video, but it has never been difficult or confusing because the steering FEELS the same, not the case with this bike. If you don't believe me still, how difficult do you think it would be to go around a track in car with an inverted steering wheel? Very easily because you are taking balance out of the equation, it has nothing to do with inverted steering.
-
If you swap the front cog wheel for a smaller one, you'll have no problem riding this bike.
That's an engineering problem, not a psychological one. The kid learns faster because his balance is easier to keep, his weight being closer to the ground. -
Now make the pedals work backwards too.
-
I can ride this bike and have ridden a similar bike, over sand, for a ten £ prize.
-
I wonder how much the gear ratio will affect this sort of experiment.
-
inverted controls
-
My teacher from Riverton Intermediate School showed me this have you went to this school before?
-
pay me dude I got you, I bet I can ride, I am a master at pulling off the thought to be impossible, but you should really mike a bike like that that looks good and sit it out for people to steal, be one of those funny sit up videos
-
All I brought me here!
-
