Your internet isn't just underwater. It's also covered in Vaseline. Map by TeleGeography: http://www.submarinecablemap.com/ Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO The internet is known to pulse through fiber optic cables and cell phone towers, but 99% of high-speed international information is transferred under the sea. How long has this been happening? Underwater cables delivering information isn't a novel idea — the first Transatlantic cable was laid in 1858—undersea cables have been around since the telegraph. The moment when you look at the title too fast and think it says "Thin underwear cables".

I thought the locations of these cables was suppose to be kept secret? How come all of a sudden these past couple years everyone & their mother is posting up these maps?

I hate the notion the "cloud". when I am in Google Docs. my work is being saved in a server somewhere. I can access it anywhere in the world. the cloud is just a server.

Incredible

I feel like our internet is in fact very vulnerable, despite our current society being so dependent on it. If just a few things go wrong, the entire internet will vanish, and future historians will know very little about us.
-
That's also because satellites don't exist.
-
The video needs more info...
-
Im just thinking of all those memes swimming through the vaseline!
-
"The cloud" is where everything is stored. Nothing is stored in those cables, they just transmit information. The real cloud is a bunch of server rooms.
-
