A U.S. military helicopter crashed on Monday at an American base in Okinawa, Japan. According to Reuters, the HH-60 helicopter based in Kadena air base was conducting a training mission and flying over the U.S. Marines Corps' Camp Hansen with at least four people on board at the time of the accident. The helicopter crashed in a remote mountain area. A fire started after the crash. Video footage showed smoke rising from the place of the incident, Reuters reported. According to Japanese and U.S. officials, all four crew members are believed to have survived, the Guardian reported. The cause of the incident is still unknown. According to Reuters, "the incident may stoke anger over the concentration of the U.S. military bases on the island." "Residents of Okinawa, host to the bulk of U.S. military forces in Japan, have long resented bearing what many feel is an unfair share of the burden for the U.S.-Japan military alliance. Many associate U.S. bases with accidents, crime and pollution." -------------------------------------------------------- TomoNews is your daily source for top animated news.
