4. @aap100 This fish tank is 11 million liters, which is 2.9 million gallons. The largest fish tank in the world is in Atlanta, Georgia inside of the Georgia Aquarium. The Georgia Aquariums fish tank is called Ocean Voyager. Ocean Voyager is 6.1 million gallons (23 million liters), and has four whale sharks and 4 manta rays. The Georgia Aquariums Ocean Voyager tank has been the largest fish tank in the world since it was built in 2005.

6. Firstly, this isn't the worlds largest fish tank. Also, this whale shark is no longer in the Atlantis Hotel Aquarium.
7. My take on it is that zoos (aquariums etc.) provide a place to wonder at nature and give people who would never have a first hand opportunity to see the creatures. That will always be somewhat at odds with welfare issues. Also there is potential research value in observing captive animals, and for some very rare species it might be their only chance of survival. If one child that sees this whale shark grows up to work in conservation or becomes an enthusiastic teacher etc. it was worth it. 
8. It's actually a shark - filter feeder that needs loads of plankton/krill every day - wonder what they feed it? 
9. I feel the opposite, the whale shark probably has a better life in the aquarium than it does in the sea....easy meal, what appears to be a nice sized tank...i mean its a tank, not the open sea, but less stuff to worry about like predators, fisherman, and the like
